Professor in Economic Policy, University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy. Her main research topics (both theory and empirical research) are focused in two main related fields: dynamics of innovation (innovation as a social process, the role of relationships between firms in fueling innovation processes, policies to support innovation, the effects of innovation on the organization of work and skills); structure and change in local production systems (emergence of networks of competences in local development processes, local development policies; competitiveness of local production systems, environmental and social sustainability of local development). Since 2000, she is director of Officina Emilia, a research-action promoted by the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia supporting an active knowledge of the local context in a global perspective. In the last decade she has been involved in several international research projects on innovation (Phoenix Innovation Study, Arizona State University) and EU projects on theory models and analysis of innovative processes (Iscom, Insite, MD).
